For the first time in a World Cup final tournament, two goalkeepers over the age of 40 are starting in the same match. Uruguay’s Fernando Muslera is 40 years and five days old, while Cape Verde’s Bozínia is 40 years and 18 days old, forming an unprecedented duo between the posts.
Comparing the two is particularly interesting. On one hand, there is the highly experienced Muslera, with more than 130 appearances for the Uruguayan national team, having played in five World Cups and boasting a career full of titles in Europe and South America.
On the other hand, there’s Vozinha, who until a few days ago was virtually unknown to the general public, but became one of the tournament’s standout stories after making seven saves against Spain in the opening match at Cape Verde.
