AEK continues to operate… under the radar when it comes to strengthening its roster, however, there are signs that the team’s second signing, following that of Oleksandr Zubkov, is not far off.
This week is very likely to bring significant developments—perhaps even announcements—in at least one case that Javier Ribalta has been “working on” for some time.
The “Union” intends to have finalized its key moves—that is, to have signed a center back and a starting midfielder, both potential starters—by the start of preseason training on July 6. And it appears they are well on their way to achieving this, perhaps even several days ahead of schedule.
In keeping with Ribalta’s usual approach, not a single detail about the club’s transfer targets is being leaked to the public. Usually, when their names are made public, it’s done by their respective clubs and the media in the countries where they play, but now the negotiations are at such an advanced stage that the deals are practically done.
As for the contract extensions for Jović and Pilios, both are well on track, but they are not expected to be finalized before the two return to Athens for the start of preseason training.
