The Council of Ministers approved today, Wednesday, a proposal to continue applying the reduced excise tax rate on motor fuels for another two months, as announced by Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letympiotis.

The total cost is 12 million euros, and the measure will remain in effect until August 31, 2026.
“This decision was made while also taking into account the current downward trend in energy prices. They remain at higher-than-normal levels due to geopolitical developments,” he emphasized, among other things.
He also recalled that the measure had been implemented by a decision of the Council of Ministers on March 26 and was part of a package of measures totaling 200 million euros.
