Valencia was crowned Spanish champion for the second time in its history and the first time since 2017. Pedro Martínez’s exemplary team defeated Barcelona for the second time at the “Palau Blaugrana,” to be precise, they routed them 108-84, and with their third consecutive victory in the finals, they lifted the Liga Endesa trophy.
The standout player for the new champions and MVP of the finals was Jan Montero, who in his final appearance before moving to Olympiacos scored 23 points (3-for-3 from the free-throw line, 4-for-6 from the field, 4-for-8 from three-point range), 3 assists, 3 steals, and 2 rebounds. Cameron Taylor followed him in performance with 21 points and 6 rebounds. Kevin Pander with 26 and Toko Sengelia with 15 points stood out for the losing side, who are saying goodbye to Xavi Pascual, who is heading to Dubai BC. It was the end of the road for Jan Vesely, who had 12 points and 7 rebounds.
The visitors dominated from the first quarter onward, as Pander seemed to be fighting alone for the Catalans (21 points through the third quarter). Led by Montero and Taylor in the third quarter, Valencia extended their lead to +18 (64-82) and never looked back, with a large portion of the “Barça” crowd leaving the stands before the end of the game.
Quarters: 23-26, 35-47, 64-82, 84-108
