The price of a barrel of North Sea Brent crude, an international benchmark in oil markets, fell below the level recorded before the war in the Middle East broke out, following the U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran on February 28, as markets appear relieved by the gradual resumption of shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

The price of a barrel of Brent crude for August delivery fell by more than 1% to $72.44, having closed at $72.48 on February 27, the day before the armed conflict began.
