The President of the Republic Received Bahrain’s
Minister of Transport and Telecommunications The President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, received today, at the Presidential Palace, Bahrain’s Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalf, who is also President of the King Hammad Global Centre for Coexistence and Tolerance.
During the meeting, the President of the Republic said he looks forward to the King of Bahrain’s visit to Cyprus in 2027, a visit that is very important “to our joint efforts to further strengthen our bilateral cooperation, as well as our regional cooperation.”
He emphasized the importance of cooperation among the states in the region, as well as Bahrain’s contribution toward this goal.
For his part, the Minister, among other things, described President Christodoulides’ visit to Bahrain last January—which was his first since assuming the Presidency of the Council of the EU— with President Christodoulides noting that it was part of the Government’s desire to send a strong message regarding the EU’s active engagement in the region.
The Minister then said that Cyprus and Bahrain share the same values and referred to tomorrow’s high-level conference taking place in Nicosia, on the topic of interfaith dialogue, as part of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU and co-organized by the King Hammad Center, noting that the fact that it is being held in Cyprus is very important at this time for many reasons.
During the meeting, the significance of Cyprus’s concurrent Presidency of the Council of the EU and Bahrain’s Presidency of the Gulf Cooperation Council was also highlighted.
