The Plenary Session of the Parliament unanimously approved, with 38 votes in favor, the Excise Tax (Amendment) (No. 2) of 2026, which was submitted today by the Ministry of Finance and considered under the urgent procedure.
Prior to the bill’s passage, the Parliamentary Committee on Finance and the Budget convened an extraordinary meeting to review it and draft the relevant report for the Plenary.
The purpose of this legislation is to amend the Excise Tax Law of 2026, in order to extend the period of application of the reduced excise tax rates imposed on specific categories of motor fuels.
The existing reduced rates were set to expire on June 30, 2026, but the new amendment ensures that the measure will remain in effect for another two months.
