It will “invest” in its academies.

AEK has decided not to proceed with the signing of a young Greek player who would be eligible for the Cup and Super Cup. Javier Ribalta reviewed several prospects from the domestic market but was not convinced that the club should move to sign them.

Thus, it appears that AEK will rely on players from its youth academy. Forward Zoïs Karargyris (who has recovered from his knee injury) and defensive midfielder Christoforos Kolimatsis (who was on loan to Syros) will be part of the summer training camp.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that four players will be training with the team in the Netherlands: 19-year-old center back Stavros Psyropoulos (an international with the U18 and U19 national teams), 20-year-old Spyros Christakopoulos, who plays right back and defensive midfielder; 18-year-old right winger Tasos Amanatidis, who was signed from Makedonikos (with 22 appearances, 1 goal, and 1 assist in Super League 2), and 17-year-old forward Argyris Argyriou (who, with 29 goals, became the all-time leading scorer in the Super League U17).

It should be noted that the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) has decided that, in addition to the Greek Cup, the Super Cup (AEK vs. OFI on August 12 at Pankritio Stadium), the mandatory inclusion of two Greek players born in 2004 or later in the starting lineup. Among the core players of “AEK,” only Dimitris Kaloskamis meets the age criteria.
