The police maintained a strong presence and carried out intensive operations throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive policing operations, nine individuals were arrested for various offenses, including, among others, possession of a firearm and firing shots, illegal possession of drugs, theft, and illegal possession of property.
As part of these operations, 370 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 498 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 45 property inspections were carried out to combat criminal activity, resulting in five complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 188 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and three cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation. As part of the police investigations, four vehicles were impounded.
Among the reports filed for traffic violations, 101 reports for speeding stand out. One driver was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, while a total of 67 driver checks were conducted.
Law enforcement operations, aimed at preventing and suppressing crime, continue daily, with an increased police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of protecting citizens and ensuring public order.
