40-year-old Horford signs a two-year deal to stay with the Warriors

As if he's going to retire

Al Horford has no plans to retire. At 40, the Dominican center has decided to decline his $6 million option to re-sign with the Warriors, but will instead sign a two-year, $14 million contract with the same team.

Thus, Horford will initially become the 13th player in NBA history to reach 20 seasons (starting as early as next season), following LeBron James, Vince Carter, Chris Paul, Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Garnett, Kevin Willis, Robert Paris, Kyle Lowry, Udonis Haslem, Jamal Crawford, Kobe Bryant, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. LeBron holds the record with 23 seasons.

Horford averaged 8.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.1 blocks in 21.5 minutes per game last season.
