The new Commissioner for Communications, Marios Pieris, and the new Deputy Commissioner for Communications, Georgios Georgiou, officially assumed their duties following the completion of their confirmation proceedings before the President of the Republic.
As announced by the Office of the Communications Commissioner, upon assuming their duties, the Commissioner and the Deputy Commissioner visited the Agency’s offices, where they had the opportunity “to meet with the staff and learn about the multifaceted work carried out within the scope of the Communications Commissioner’s Office’s responsibilities (Office of the Communications Commissioner for Telecommunications and Postal Regulation and the Digital Security Authority).”
During their visit, it is added, they addressed the staff, were given a tour of the facilities, and exchanged views with executives from all departments, gaining a firsthand understanding of the important work and the contemporary challenges the Organization is called upon to manage.
In his remarks, the new Commissioner noted that significant prospects and ambitious goals are taking shape for the coming years, expressing his confidence that, through collective effort, close cooperation, and the full utilization of the staff’s expertise, the Agency will continue to lead the way and respond effectively to the complex challenges of the digital age.
“The new leadership taking office marks the beginning of a new era, with a commitment to innovation, institutional consistency, and the protection of the public interest,” the statement reads.
