The police maintained a strong presence and carried out intensive operations throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive policing operations, eight individuals were arrested for various offenses, including, among others, illegal employment and working as a private security guard without a license from the competent authority, as well as various traffic violations.
As part of these operations, 621 vehicles were stopped for inspection during the night, and 952 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 58 premises were inspected to address illegal activities, resulting in 14 complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 392 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 14 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation. As part of the police investigations, 11 vehicles were impounded.
Among the complaints filed for traffic violations, 132 were for speeding. Also notable were 31 reports of driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as two (2) cases of driving under the influence of drugs, which were identified following preliminary drug tests. A total of 213 vehicle drivers were tested for driving under the influence of alcohol, while six (6) drivers were tested for driving under the influence of drugs.
Law enforcement operations, aimed at preventing and suppressing crime, continue daily, with an enhanced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of protecting citizens and ensuring public order.
