PAOK took the first substantive step in its summer roster reinforcement, as Aritz Elustondo arrived in Thessaloniki to finalize his transfer and become the first new addition to the roster ahead of the upcoming season.
The 32-year-old Basque center back and captain of Real Sociedad landed at “Macedonia” Airport, where he was greeted by representatives of PAOK FC. Although the final formalities remain, everything indicates that the contract will be signed soon and the experienced center back will be at the disposal of Alessio Lisi, joining the squad as planned for the main phase of preseason training in the Netherlands.
After Elustondo, the “Double-Headed Eagle of the North” is turning its attention to the case of Pantelis Hatzidiakos. Copenhagen appears open to the possibility of releasing the Greek international center back, and the Thessaloniki club wants to finalize negotiations immediately, in order to secure yet another key addition to the center of their defense.
Dimitris Giannoulis also remains on PAOK’s transfer radar. His situation continues to be a major focus for the club’s management, with the goal of signing him on a permanent basis rather than on loan. However, the financial gap with Augsburg remains a major obstacle, as the German club’s demands remain high.
At the same time, the “Black-and-Whites” are also considering other options to strengthen their roster. Midfielder Santamaría remains on the list.
