At least two people were injured in a Russian attack on Kyiv that took place overnight from Saturday to Sunday, according to Timur Tkachenko, head of the capital’s military administration.
The Ukrainian armed forces reported a ballistic missile attack on Kyiv in the early hours of this morning. Journalists from the Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported explosions and flashes in the sky over the Ukrainian capital, where air defense systems were activated.
Yesterday, Saturday, two people were killed by Russian strikes in the Dnipropetrovsk (southeast) and Sumy (north) regions.
Two people were also killed in Ukrainian attacks on the Russian cities of Volgograd (southwest) and Belgorod (west), and a third in Khorlivka—in the Russian-occupied part of Ukraine’s Donetsk region.
The Russian armed forces have been pounding Ukraine almost daily since February 2022, when Russia launched its invasion of its neighbor. The war has become the deadliest conflict in Europe since World War II, while diplomatic efforts to reach a peace agreement have stalled.
Ukraine has also intensified its strikes in recent months—which it characterizes as retaliatory—against Russia and the regions under Moscow’s occupation.
In Russia, a fire broke out at the Slavyansk refinery in Kuban, in the Krasnodar region (south), after debris from a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) fell there, according to local authorities.
This is one of the largest refineries in southern Russia, owned by the “Slaviansk EKO” group.
In the same area, a man was injured in the community of Trudobelkovsky Khutor by Ukrainian drones, shrapnel from which caused damage to four private homes, according to the same source.
