Police are investigating a new case involving the possession of child sexual abuse material and, as part of their investigation, arrested a 41-year-old man today. The Cybercrime Sub-Directorate is investigating the case.
The investigation began after the police received a tip stating that a user of an online messaging app had searched for child sexual abuse material.
Investigations conducted by members of the Cybercrime Sub-Directorate to verify the suspect’s identity revealed evidence against the 41-year-old. A court arrest warrant was issued against him, pursuant to which he was arrested by police officers shortly after 3:30 p.m. today.
During a search of his residence, conducted pursuant to a search warrant, the following items were located and seized for forensic examination: a laptop computer, three cell phones, and two external hard drives used for storing electronic data.
The 41-year-old was taken into custody, and the police are investigating a case involving the acquisition, possession, access, and distribution of child pornography.
