A video recording captures the last carefree moments of the two boys at the residence where they were staying.
The 30-year-old father and his 38-year-old partner, who were arrested on suspicion of negligence, appeared before the British Bases Court in Dhekelia this morning. The proceedings revealed new evidence.
According to the investigator handling the case, footage showing the children playing before the tragedy is currently being examined.
“The video footage is extensive, fragmented, and of poor quality, so it will be sent to laboratories for analysis. The images show the two children playing.”

The investigation is also expanding to include the vehicle involved in the fatal accident. Forensic experts will conduct a technical inspection to determine whether there was any malfunction in the door locking mechanisms.
New evidence
The most critical moment of the proceedings came when the defense’s questions to the investigating judge opened new chapters in the case.
Father’s attorney: Has the police ruled out murder or determined that they died of natural causes?
Case Investigator: The forensic examination will determine that.
Father’s attorney: Is there a possibility that the children were poisoned?
The investigator avoided answering this question, citing the ongoing investigation.
“As established during the proceedings, the pathological and forensic examinations had not been completed, so we do not know the actual cause of death or whether it was due to them being left in the car, as we had heard.”

During the proceedings, it was noted that the fatal car was parked in an area that falls within the British Sovereign Base Areas, while the apartment building where the family resides is located in the Republic of Cyprus.
The hearing was interrupted for a few minutes when the judge, in a stern tone, asked the journalists to turn off their cell phones, stop any live broadcasts, and take handwritten notes.
As part of the investigation, the Bulgarian authorities will be asked to assist in taking a statement from the children’s mother. At the same time, two cell phones are being examined using specialized equipment.

The Court ordered that the two suspects be held in custody for three days, rejecting the police’s request for a four-day detention order. The main reason for the court’s decision is the risk of flight.
