The Permanent Criminal Court sitting in Paphos today sentenced a 36-year-old defendant who was found guilty in a case involving the illegal possession of cannabis with intent to supply.
At the same time, the Court imposed an additional three-year prison sentence on the 36-year-old for the offense of reckless driving.
The two sentences are to be served concurrently, resulting in the defendant serving a total prison sentence of ten years.
It should be noted that the case came to light in May 2025, when members of the Traffic Police stopped the vehicle driven by the then 35-year-old in Paphos for a routine check. During the stop, his vehicle collided with two police patrol cars.
Subsequent investigations revealed that he was in possession of more than 12.5 kilograms of cannabis, as well as a small amount of a substance believed to be cocaine, after which he was arrested and taken into custody.
