In a post, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen thanked the President of the Republic, Nicos Christodoulides, noting that “the Cypriot Presidency was a true success.”
In her post, which was accompanied by a video featuring footage from their joint meetings over the past six months, Ms. von der Leyen addressed the President, saying, “You advanced the EU’s agenda, from competitiveness to enlargement. Abroad, you have built bridges with our partners in the Middle East at a critical moment.”
June 30 also marks the end of the Cypriot Presidency, with Ireland taking over tomorrow, Wednesday, with the opening ceremony in Dublin, attended by both the President of the European Commission and the President of the European Council, António Costa.
