After four years, Jens Jonsson is leaving AEK, as the Dane seeks new challenges in his career, far from Nea Filadelfia.

In a heartfelt message on social media, Jonsson said a final “goodbye” to the team’s fans, who loved him deeply and continued to adore him despite the fact that he had been sidelined.

Here is what Jens Jonsson said in full: “All good things come to an end—and what an amazing experience it was. Four years—three of which were the best not only of my career but of my life.

I was so proud and honored to wear the jersey of this wonderful club.

My deepest thanks and gratitude go to the fans—every player should strive to feel your support—this past year was the most difficult of my career, but you make it all worthwhile. Hearing my name chanted after a whole year without playing—you guys are something else!
