A long journey that felt like a national mission is coming to an end.
From the Convention Center, where for six months the heart of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union beat, the curtain has fallen, in the presence of hundreds of government officials, volunteers, and all those who were part of this journey that began about 2.5 years ago. “About 2.
5 years ago, when we set out on this journey, I said that the success of the Cypriot Presidency would lie in its people, in Nicosia and Brussels. But we have proven that what matters is not square kilometers. It is what we bring to the table.” Marilena Raouna, Deputy Minister for European Affairs
Over the past six months, the Cypriot Presidency has managed to achieve significant results in a number of areas. From defense, security, competitiveness, and enlargement to the new Multiannual Financial Framework.
“Let me tell you—as often as I’m criticized for using the word ‘clearly,’ today that word is absolutely fitting. Let me tell you as clearly as I can that I am truly proud of all of you.” Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic

In posts on the “X” platform, the heads of European institutions once again thanked the Republic of Cyprus.
“You have worked incredibly hard to achieve tangible results for a stronger, safer, and more prosperous European Union! Thank you!” António Costa, President of the European Council
“The Cypriot Presidency was a real success.” Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission “Thank
you, Cyprus!” Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament “
“We managed to surprise a great many people who might have expected different results or anticipated difficulties, especially given everything that has happened during this time.” Konstantinos Kompos, Minister of Foreign Affairs
