. So, in order for citizens to continue watching television from the private channels that are broadcasting, they’ll need to rescan their channels.
“They should go to the TV settings, find the channel selection menu, and from there tune in to the new frequencies 35 and 48 so they can watch the channels via the Hellas Sat platform.” Andronikos Kakouras, Deputy Director of the Department of Electronic Communications
If the TV does not support the new technology, a set-top box is required. Prices for set-top boxes range from 30 to 35 euros, and most technicians also charge for installation.
No Extension
The Department of Electronic Communications of the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy has made it clear that no further extension will be granted beyond the two-month grace period that has already been provided, and citizens will need to upgrade their equipment.
In the event that someone encounters a problem resetting their TV, the contractor for the new platform has specially trained technicians who can assist citizens either by phone at 22 000737 or through the Hellas Sat website.
“This inconvenience was bound to happen at some point anyway, because Velister’s license has expired, and no matter which provider we chose, a network change would inevitably have taken place.” Andronikos Kakouras, Deputy Director of the Department of Electronic Communications
The new technology ensures better picture and sound quality and a more efficient use of frequencies.
