Starting today, Wednesday, July 1, Cypriot television is entering a new era, as private television channels will now be broadcast exclusively via the new frequencies and the European DVB-T2 technology.
To continue watching television from the private channels that are broadcasting, you will need to rescan your channels.
According to Andronikos Kakkoura, Deputy Director of the Department of Electronic Communications, viewers should go to their TV’s settings, select “Channel Tuning,” and from there tune to the new frequencies 35 and 48 so they can watch the channels via the Hellas Sat platform.

If your TV does not support the new technology, you will need to use a set-top box. Prices for set-top boxes range from 30 to 35 euros, and most technicians also charge for installation.
Alpha has created a special artificial intelligence tool that lets you check, in just a few simple steps, whether your TV is compatible with DVB-T2 technology.
You can find it here.
In case anyone has trouble retuning their TV, the contractor for the new platform has specially trained technicians who assist residents either by phone at 22000737 or through the Hellas Sat website.
The new technology ensures better picture and sound quality and a more efficient use of frequencies.
