Traffic chaos prevails on the highway due to a strike by Limassol’s sewer cleaners.
According to the police, the strike, which began early this morning, is taking place on the Limassol–Nicosia highway, from the Linopetra area to the Germasogeia roundabout.
Although the septic tank cleaners are parked in the emergency lane, traffic in the area is heavy, with police officers on the scene.
It should be noted that all Limassol-based tanker and septic tank cleaning companies are on an indefinite strike, with the companies stating that the decision was made due to chronic problems they face with sewage disposal, arguing that despite their repeated contacts and public appeals, no substantive solution has been provided to date.
The business owners are calling for the immediate establishment of a temporary wastewater reception point in Limassol, warning that if a solution is not provided immediately, there is a serious risk of a public health crisis.
