Julian Álvarez is Barcelona’s top transfer target for this summer, with the “Blaugrana” having even made an official offer to sign him, only to receive a rejection from Atlético Madrid.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta spoke publicly about the matter, emphasizing that the Argentine forward has long wanted to move to Barcelona, while also addressing the reasons why Atlético does not wish, at least for the time being, to proceed with the transfer.
“I spoke with Atlético. We submitted an offer, and we know that Julián has wanted to come to Barcelona for a long time. Ever since he was at Manchester City. We made this offer with the utmost respect for Atlético. They told me they don’t want to sell him because they don’t have any alternatives. I told them that if they find alternatives, our offer remains on the table. “They know our intentions; if they want to go through with it, we’ll be delighted,” said the president of Barcelona.
