U.S. President Donald Trump defended the fact that in 2025 he earned approximately 1,2 billion dollars thanks to his activities in the cryptocurrency sector, arguing that “everyone benefits” from his return to the White House.
“You know why I made a profit? Because the stock market is rising—everyone benefits,” he told reporters as he prepared to take his first trip on the new presidential aircraft gifted to him by Qatar.
When asked about criticism that he is using his office to enrich himself, the Republican billionaire replied that his income has been transferred to “blind trusts,” that is, to independent trustees, as is customary for public officials so that their assets are managed by independent entities.
“I don’t personally handle my finances; we have funds that manage my money. I made a lot of money before becoming president; they invest my money, and I don’t speak to them,” he insisted.
Trump assured that his wealth stems from his previous professional career, although his income comes from activities he undertook after returning to the presidency in 2025.
“I don’t know if I had a better career in politics or in business, but I had a great career in business. So, we all benefit. I benefit because I have a lot of money and a lot of cash,” he added.
According to documents released by the Office of Government Ethics (OGE), Trump had revenues of approximately $1.2 billion in 2025 thanks to his investments in the startup World Liberty Financial and the cryptocurrency bearing his name, $TRUMP, which went on sale just hours before his inauguration in January 2025.
Donald Trump, a former real estate developer, is often accused of conflicts of interest, particularly because he invested in cryptocurrencies while, after returning to power, introducing various deregulatory measures for the sector that sent their prices soaring.
