The incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. local time on Clippens Road, outside a preschool.

A video circulating on social media captures the moment a white IX drives up onto the sidewalk and strikes the woman, who, just seconds earlier, had been walking with a friend.

According to eyewitnesses, a heated argument had taken place between the woman and the driver.

After the man got back into the car, the two women began to walk away. At that moment, the driver sped into oncoming traffic, drove up onto the sidewalk and struck the 49-year-old woman before fleeing the scene, leaving her injured on the road.

In a video recorded by a passerby, a witness can be heard warning, “He’s going to hit her with the car,” just seconds before the collision.

Local residents reported that the woman was lucky, as the spot where she was struck is next to a fence and there was a serious risk that she would be crushed. “She could very easily have lost her life,” said an eyewitness.

The 49-year-old was immediately transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where she received first aid. According to authorities, she was subsequently discharged.

Authorities have launched a manhunt to locate the driver, while police are collecting witness statements and reviewing footage from security cameras and dashcams.
