Real Madrid is turning the page, having announced that it has mutually agreed to part ways with Sergio Scariolo.
The “Queen” thanked the Italian coach for his contributions, emphasizing that the club will always be his home and wishing him and his family every success in the future.
The succession process is already underway, as Real’s new head coach will be Pedro Martínez. The experienced coach is leaving Valencia, with Real Madrid activating his release clause—worth one million euros—in order to sign him to a three-year contract.
This change, however, will have a significant financial impact on the Madrid club. Scarriolo had two years remaining on his contract, with the remainder of his deal estimated at approximately 4 million euros; combined with Martínez’s buyout clause and his new contract, the total cost of the coaching change for this season is estimated to reach 7 million euros.
