At the grand unveiling of the new “Georgios Karaiskakis” stadium, Vangelis Marinakis laid out his plans for the project that is set to revolutionize stadiums in Greece. He clarified that the stadium’s capacity will exceed 53,000 spectators, and spoke of a stadium that—as he emphasized—“will be the most modern our country has ever seen.”
The majority shareholder of Olympiacos also revealed that the project will cost 250 million euros, an amount that—as he said—he will cover entirely on his own. “Our project will cost over 250 million. It will be financed by me personally and will be open more than 365 days a year. It will become our own ‘theater of dreams,’” he said.
At the same time, he noted that Olympiacos already has a state-of-the-art training center in Renti, which “improves every year,” demonstrating that the plan to upgrade the club’s infrastructure is comprehensive and ongoing.
