The police maintained a strong presence and carried out intensive operations throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, 8 individuals were arrested for various offenses, including theft by an employee, illegal residence in the Republic, carrying a knife, illegal possession of drugs, assault on a police officer, and others.
As part of these operations, 629 drivers and 131 passengers were stopped and checked overnight. At the same time, 44 inspections were carried out at premises to combat illegal activities, resulting in six complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 295 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 6 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Among the citations issued, 83 were for drivers exceeding the speed limit, and as part of police investigations, 4 vehicles were impounded. A total of 95 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 3 citations.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
