"Sirens" from Azerbaijan for Giorgos Malekkidis!

The case of the 28-year-old Apollon player is back in the spotlight for Neftchi Baku, with the websites Offsideplus.az and Idman.biz reporting that the two sides are in talks.

The team from the Azerbaijani capital has set its sights on the Cypriot player, as he can play both on the left wing and as a center back.

The truth lies somewhere in the middle, as reports indicate that Neftchi does indeed have Malekkidis on its list, though no official approach has been made.

We’d like to remind you that the “blue-and-white” player was linked with the Azerbaijani club last summer as well, though nothing ultimately came of it.

Malekkidis is under contract until 2027, a fact that gives Apollon the first say in his future, and the club certainly has no intention of letting him go without receiving a substantial financial compensation.
