At least forty people were killed when a bus plunged into a deep roadside ditch in Balochistan province, in southwestern Pakistan, according to rescue officials and a government official.

The bus was traveling from Quetta, the provincial capital, to the national capital, Islamabad.

“A bus traveling from Quetta to Islamabad fell into a deep ravine in the mountainous Dana Shar region. There are 40 dead and 11 injured,” said an official from the emergency services in the Jomb region. The death toll was confirmed by Balochistan authorities.
