The Municipality of Lakatamia and Running in Cyprus are pleased to announce the 7th edition of the Lakatamia Energy Run, which will take place on Sunday, October 4, 2026. One of Cyprus’s most beloved and fastest-growing road races returns this year bigger and more dynamic than ever, aiming to break all previous participation records.
Since 2019, the event has seen impressive growth, with over 1,350 participants in 2025, while this year’s goal is to exceed 1,700 runners and walkers. This is the largest sports festival in Lakatamia and the surrounding area.
The program includes three routes for all ages and fitness levels:
- 10 km Race – for experienced and ambitious runners, with the route running parallel to the pedestrian walkway, from Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue to Archangelos.
- 5 km Race – for runners and walkers of all levels, whether it’s their first race or a chance to set personal records, with participation from large groups such as gyms and companies
- 1,000-meter Children’s Race – dedicated to our young friends, to whom we strive to teach the ideals of sports, with a participation medal for everyone
The start and finish lines will be, as they are every year, Charalambos Mouskou Street, in front of the Lakatamia Municipal Amphitheater, while the renovated Agios Georgios Park will host this grand celebration of sports.
Bigger, more impressive
This year, the event has been upgraded in every detail. Participants will enjoy a brand-new start/finish arch, a comprehensive participation package that includes a technical T-shirt, a commemorative medal, an electronic timing bib, as well as a rich entertainment program at the finish line: DJs at the start and along the route, music, mascots for the kids, water, electrolytes, and fruit.
Sports with a Social Focus
Beyond sports and the promotion of a healthy and active lifestyle, the Lakatamia Energy Run has a strong charitable focus. From each registration, 2 euros (and 3 euros from each children’s registration) are donated to charity. Through the events held in recent years, over €15,000 has been raised and donated to charitable causes.
A Partnership with a Vision
This year’s event marks the continuation of a long-standing partnership between the Municipality of Lakatamia and Running in Cyprus, ensuring the continuity and further development of the initiative. Running in Cyprus has been organizing road races since 1987, with more than 300 races to its credit, and is a leading force in the running community in Cyprus.
Of course, this event would not be possible without the support of sponsors who support the local community, such as Kentis Trading, Staroil, EnergyIntel, Scaffolding Solutions, Falken Tyres, Pissis Signage & Furniture, Ioannides Supermarkets, and 361.
Registration is now open.
