Starting the day after tomorrow, Sunday, July 5, the regular divine services—which are held every first Sunday of the month—will resume at the occupied monastery of St. Andrew the Apostle, according to an announcement by the Office of the Presidential Commissioner, which notes that the services had been suspended for more than two months.
The resumption of Sunday services at the monastery, the statement adds, was made possible following the decisive and personal intervention of the President of the Republic with the Turkish Cypriot side.
The unimpeded exercise of religious rights, respect for places of worship, and the ability of the faithful to access them are matters of the utmost importance, it is noted, and the Office of the Presidential Commissioner will continue to monitor them consistently and responsibly, the statement says.
