On Friday afternoon (July 3), the curtain rose on this year’s ninth Formula 1 race, with the drivers taking to the Silverstone track for the only practice session of the three-day weekend, as there will be a Sprint Race.
During the one-hour practice session available to the drivers of the eleven teams, Lewis Hamilton was the fastest of all, with the British Ferrari driver clocking a time of 1:29.260.
The seven-time world champion showed that both he and the Scuderia’s car are in very good racing form, leaving Kimi Antonelli in second place (+0.213) in second place and his teammate, Charles Leclerc (+0.599), in third.
George Russell rounded out the top four, nearly 7 hundredths of a second slower than Hamilton, while McLaren and Red Bull appeared to be significantly slower than the other two top teams, with the gaps being close and just over a second!
