There was a strong police presence and activity throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintain public order, and enhance the public’s sense of security.
These preventive policing operations resulted in the arrest of six individuals for various offenses, including, illegal stay in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, threats, causing a disturbance, and traffic violations. During the night, 595 vehicles were stopped for inspection, and 784 drivers and passengers were checked. At the same time, 57 property inspections were conducted, resulting in 8 complaints.
During traffic stops, 261 citations were issued for various traffic violations, 47 of which were for speeding. A total of 266 breathalyzer tests were conducted, during which 16 drivers tested positive. Two drug tests were also conducted, both with negative results. Additionally, as part of the police operations, 22 vehicles were impounded.
Law enforcement operations, aimed at crime prevention and suppression, continue daily, with an increased police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of protecting citizens and ensuring public order.
