The structural transformation of Eurobank’s banking model is in full swing, with the bank implementing the largest technology investment program in its history.
At the official presentation of the “Banking Forward” strategic plan, held at the Eurobank Campus Conference Center, the future of the Group’s digital ecosystem was discussed.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. George P. Zanias, and the Deputy Chief Executive Officers, Messrs. Konstantinos Vassiliou, Iakovos Giannaklis, and Stavros Ioannou.
At the heart of the new strategy is a massive investment of €1 billion for the period 2025–2028. These funds are specifically allocated to modern infrastructure, cloud technologies, data management, cybersecurity, and advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications.
The “Digital Factory” Behind the Investment
At the heart of Eurobank’s strategy lies the Digital & Technology Hub, which is staffed by more than 1,600 professionals and 30 cross-functional digital service development teams.
Through its in-house Digital Factory, the time required to design and implement new digital products has been drastically reduced from 30 weeks to just eight. At the same time, the transition to the cloud is proceeding at a rapid pace, as 50% of the bank’s applications and digital channels are already operating in this environment, ensuring enhanced security, speed, and more efficient use of IT.
The “Digital Brain”
This investment brings AI—and specifically Generative AI—to the core of the bank’s daily operations. Through the GenAI Factory, next-generation intelligent systems are being developed.
In this context, the digital assistant EVA is constantly enhancing customer service across digital channels, while myEVA functions as an internal AI Voice Assistant, supporting staff in their daily work.
What the customer gains
Adoption of digital channels is already widespread, as 96% of transactions are conducted digitally, with 61% carried out via the Eurobank Mobile App, a figure that reaches 94% for those aged 35 and under. The bank now offers a range of highly useful features that are a game-changer for individuals, travelers, and businesses.
For individuals and travelers, starting June 30, 2026, customers can make instant cross-border money transfers to users of corresponding payment systems in Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Andorra, under exactly the same terms that apply to domestic IRIS transactions via the Eurobank Mobile App.
Furthermore, Eurobank is the first bank in Europe to enable cross-border payments to India via UPI, a service that is expected to expand to Cyprus in the next phase. For frequent travelers, the digital Travellers Prepaid card is available exclusively through the app, offering commission-free transactions abroad, with no issuance or reload fees and no additional charges for currency conversion.
Even buying a home is simplified, as the bank integrates the mortgage experience directly into mobile banking, allowing customers to start the process and receive a digitally personalized offer on their mobile device, while still having access to specialized advisors at the Central Service Unit. T
Finally, the EverydayInvest service brings micro-savings into everyday life by integrating investing through the automatic rounding up of daily purchases.
For businesses, digital transformation offers solutions such as the VoP Tool (Verification of Payee) via e-Banking, which enables bulk verification of supplier information before payments are processed, reducing the time required for the process to just a few minutes and eliminating operational risk. At the same time, through modern application integrations and APIs, banking services are integrated directly into companies’ information systems, enabling real-time payment processing and liquidity monitoring without the need to switch work environments.
In the area of accessibility and inclusion, we apply the holistic philosophy of Accessible Design for All. The mobile app and digital channels are fully compliant with the WCAG 2.1 accessibility standard at Level AA, supporting assistive technologies such as VoiceOver and TalkBack.
Additionally, through the Evenly platform, deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals can be served via an informational video call with captions or simultaneous interpretation in Greek Sign Language, a feature also available for the v-Banking service.
Finally, the bank has integrated the Disability Card into its systems, offering specific benefits such as free access to the Eurobank My Advantage Blue package for the period 2025–2026, a preferential interest rate on a savings account, and double the cashback on selected everyday purchases.
