A tragedy occurred on Saturday morning (July 4) on the island of Rhodes, when an elderly woman died after being swept away.

The unfortunate 82-year-old woman had gone out to do her shopping at the open-air market in Agios Dimitrios when she was suddenly struck by a passing motorcycle.

An EKAB ambulance rushed to the scene and picked her up, then transported her to the island’s hospital, as she had been seriously injured.

Doctors made every effort to save her life; unfortunately, however, the 82-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries a short time later.
