As the driver was trying to start the vehicle, a fire broke out in a truck in the Strovolos area.
According to Fire Department spokesperson Andreas Kettis, the fire started in a parked articulated vehicle and spread to the trailer (telescopic machine) on Byzantium Street, with two fire trucks rushing to the scene and bringing the fire under control.
Water hoses and breathing apparatus were used to extinguish the fire.
The articulated vehicle sustained extensive property damage from the fire, while the trailer also sustained minor damage from the flames and heat.
According to Mr. Kettis, the fire broke out when the owner attempted to start the vehicle and was caused by an electrical or mechanical problem.
