Three minor earthquakes were recorded on Sunday morning in the wider maritime area around Karpathos, without causing any problems, and were barely felt by residents of Karpathos and Kasos.
The first tremor occurred at 10:13 a.m. and measured 3.4 on the Richter scale. Its epicenter was located 23 kilometers south of Karpathos, at a focal depth of 10 kilometers.
A second earthquake followed at 11:07 a.m., measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale, with the same epicenter and a focal depth of 16 kilometers.
A few minutes later, at 11:11, a third tremor was recorded, measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter 5 kilometers south-southwest (SSW) of Karpathos.
According to current assessments, the three tremors are part of the aftershock sequence of the 5.2-magnitude earthquake that occurred on July 2 in the same area.
