It dropped… a bombshell from the German Football Association following the national team’s latest failure at the World Cup, which ended ingloriously in the round of 32 with their elimination by Paraguay.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Julian Nagelsmann’s replacement will be Jürgen Klopp! The 59-year-old coach will return to the bench after a two-year hiatus, following his departure from Liverpool.
He had taken on the role of director of soccer for the Red Bull group of teams, but will now serve as the new head coach of the German national team. All this comes despite the fact that, on several occasions when asked, he had given little indication that he would return to the bench. Nevertheless, it seems that the project presented by his home country’s soccer federation has convinced him!
Among other achievements, Klopp has won the Champions League and the Premier League with Liverpool, as well as several other titles with both the “Reds” and Dortmund.
Details of his contract have not yet been disclosed, but Jürgen Klopp is now in the final stages of negotiations to end his contract with Red Bull.
In fact, the company—which controls several teams (Salzburg, Leipzig, Paris FC, Bragantino, and Linz), had considered Oliver Glasner for Klopp’s role, but he has since taken the reins at Nottingham Forest!
