There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols carried out at key locations in urban areas, with the aim of preventing serious criminal acts, maintain public order, and enhance the public’s sense of security.
These preventive policing operations resulted in the arrest of six individuals for various offenses, including, illegal residence in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus and assault resulting in serious bodily injury. During the night, 564 vehicles were stopped for inspection, and 697 drivers and passengers were checked. At the same time, 46 property inspections were conducted, resulting in 15 complaints.
During traffic stops, 370 citations were issued for various traffic violations, 143 of which were for speeding. A total of 108 breathalyzer tests were conducted, during which 5 drivers tested positive. One drug test was also administered, with a negative result. In addition, as part of the police operations, 12 vehicles were impounded.
Law enforcement operations, aimed at crime prevention and suppression, continue daily, with an increased police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of protecting citizens and ensuring public order.
