The 34-year-old soccer player, in remarks made after the final whistle, announced his retirement from the “Seleção,” having scored in the 1-2 loss to the Scandinavians.
Neymar made his debut for Brazil on August 10, 2010, in New Jersey, in a friendly against the U.S. He wore the national team jersey in 130 matches across all competitions, scored 80 goals, and recorded 59 assists.
“I tried. I tried really hard. It all started here, at MetLife Stadium, and it all ended here. It’s over,” Neymar said.
