A new team, a new jersey, and a new number for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The “Greek Freak” is leaving behind the No. 34 he wore throughout his entire career with the Bucks (as well as on the national team) and will take on the No. 7. But how did he come to this decision?
The truth is, he didn’t… think about it all that much. During a livestream with N3on, the host essentially suggested he take “7,” and the 31-year-old star agreed. It’s worth noting that the Heat had already released designs for the jersey with the number “34,” but now they’ll have to change them.
Here’s their conversation and the related video:
Would you ever change the number on your jersey? “I think so. I haven’t decided yet which number I’ll take, but I don’t think it’ll be the same one.”
Imagine, number 7: “It’s not a bad number. I’ll take it.”
Are you going to take the 7? “Do you want it?”
Yes: “Great. Number 7, then. I like it.”
