On a journey of remembrance and tribute, motorcyclists and other members of the Isaac – Solomos Memorial Initiative will set out on a journey to symbolic locations throughout Greece.
The participants gathered in the morning at the DP World Limassol terminal to board the “AF Marina,” the car ferry operating the Cyprus–Greece passenger route, “AF Marina,” for the Initiative’s third major road trip, as its spokesperson, Kyriakos Yagou, noted.
The first, he noted in his remarks, took place in 2016 in Germany, followed in 2021 by the first road trip in Greece, which continues this year, 30 years after the sacrifice of Tassos Isaac and Solomos Solomos.

“It’s a ten-day motorcycle tour, during which we’ll pass through symbolic locations such as Kerynia in Achaea, Karava on Kythira, Salamina in Attica, Rhodes, and Kastellorizo,” he said, noting that “the corresponding destinations in our homeland are under occupation, and we are asserting our right to visit our own lands freely—the right to freedom, the right to dignity, the right to justice.”
When asked about this, he noted that every journey is emotionally charged, as Tassos Isaac’s mother, Tasoula and his daughter Anastasia, as well as his sisters, “so you can understand that this part of the entire journey, with these people present, is very emotionally charged.”
“Motorcyclists have always honored the memory of the heroic martyrs; they do not forget, and we all strive, through their sacrifice, to highlight the messages that stem from it,” he added.
Regarding the sentiments they’ve received from the Greek community, Mr. Giagou said that “what we’ve experienced while preparing our events has been truly moving, and especially in small communities like Kyrenia, Leonidio, and Kastellorizo—we have encountered a great deal of enthusiasm and deep emotion, and they are preparing to welcome us with the events we are organizing together.”
Furthermore, according to a related announcement, during the road trip, events will be held, including the naming of streets after Isaac Solomos, and discussions are underway with local authorities and the community, which is eagerly awaiting the motorcyclists.
A highlight, it is added, will be the arrival of the ride at the remote island of Kastellorizo, “which symbolizes the perseverance of Hellenism and its enduring survival in such a challenging location,” while in Athens, a major event will be held at the House of Cyprus, with the support of the Cypriot Embassy.
A delegation of motorcyclists will also meet with the President of the Hellenic Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas; upon their return to Cyprus, the motorcyclists will proceed to the Presidential Palace to reiterate to President Christodoulides the need for justice to be served against those wanted for the murders of Isaac and Solomos, and their request for the Republic of Cyprus to take action, thirty years later.
