A traffic accident in which a woman was struck occurred at noon on Tuesday (July 7) on the old Lamia – Thermopylae, when a car struck a female tourist, causing her to suffer serious injuries.
According to lamiareport.gr, an American tourist who had gotten off a bus with a group attempted to cross the road to get a closer look at the statue of Leonidas. She was then struck by a car, sustaining very serious injuries to her leg and hitting her head on the road.
The tour guide rushed to administer first aid, while workers brought an umbrella to shield the injured woman—and those helping her—from the sun.
An EKAB ambulance quickly arrived on the scene and transported the elderly tourist to the hospital in Lamia. Traffic police from Lamia also arrived at the scene.
