Rivaldo sings the praises of Lionel Messi in a social media post.

In a social media post following Argentina’s comeback victory over Egypt, the Brazilian veteran highlighted the passion of the entire team—and especially “Lio.”

“What passion, what will to win, what a fight, and what self-sacrifice from everyone! This is exactly what fans expect to see on the field at a World Cup. What can one say about Lionel Messi? He’s an incredible soccer player! At 39 years old, competing in his sixth World Cup, he continues to show the same passion for the Argentine jersey: he celebrates, he fights, he gets emotional, and, once again, he proves to be the difference-maker,” he says, continuing:

“I’m Brazilian, I love my country, and I’ll always support our national team. Rivalry is part of soccer, but I also know how to recognize and admire a great match and a team that gives it their all on the field. Matches like this one showcase the beauty of soccer and are worthy of a World Cup. Congratulations to Argentina on advancing,” he concludes.
