With 575 votes in favor, 33 against, and 43 abstentions, the European Parliament adopted the resolution on the impact of the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus on women.

The resolution was sponsored by New Democracy MEP Eleonora Meleti. The resolution concerns the girls and women who were abused and raped during the Turkish invasion of Cyprus. MEPs recognize rape as a weapon of war.
