Matt Morgan is officially an Aris player, as the “yellow-and-blacks” announced the signing of the American guard, completing one of this summer’s most high-profile transfers.

The 28-year-old star (1.93 m) signed a contract running through the summer of 2028, significantly strengthening the team’s backcourt ahead of the new season.

Morgan is coming off two full seasons with Virtus Bologna, and last season he averaged 13.5 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists on average in 34 EuroLeague appearances.

“ARIS Betsson Basketball Club announces the signing of Matt Morgan for the next two years.

Matt Morgan was born on November 7, 1997, and at 1.93m tall, he plays both guard positions.

The new ARIS Betsson player spent his college career (2015–2019) at Cornell. In his freshman year, he averaged 18.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.4 steals, earning a spot on the Second Team All-Ivy League.

He repeated this performance in his second season, with 18.1 points (leading scorer in the conference), 4.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. His third year was even better, as he was named to the First Team All-Ivy League, averaging 22.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.2 assists.

He finished his NCAA career in 2019–20 with 22.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists, shooting 51% from the field and 43% from three-point range. In total, he scored 2,333 points at Cornell, making him the college’s second-leading scorer of all time.

From 2019 to 2021, he played for the Raptors 905, the Toronto Raptors’ affiliate team, averaging 8.3 and 8.7 points, respectively.

In 2021, he made his first move overseas to play for the Turkish team Konyaspor, where he averaged 21.6 points (on 43% from three-point range), 4.5 rebounds, and 5.3 assists. During the 2022–23 season, he played for Le Mans in France, averaging 20.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game.

In 2023, he moved to the United Kingdom to play for the London Lions, where he averaged 17.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.6 assists. These performances paved the way for him to join the EuroLeague, as he signed a two-year contract with Virtus Bologna. In the 2024–25 season, over 74 games in the league and the EuroLeague, he averaged 9.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists, helping the team win the Italian championship.

Last year, in 66 league, cup, and EuroLeague games, he averaged 13 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists.”
