On Wednesday, a resolution concerning the impact of the 1974 Turkish invasion on girls and women in Cyprus was passed by an overwhelming majority.
Specifically, the resolution was adopted with 575 votes in favor, 33 against, and 43 abstentions. But how did the MEPs from Cyprus and Greece vote?
All 27 MEPs from Cyprus and Greece voted in favor of the resolution, with the sole exception of MEP Nikos Pappas, who abstained.

A French MEP from the ECR group also abstained; who participated in the mission to Cyprus and was present during the testimonies of the women who spoke to the delegation about what they endured at the hands of Turkish soldiers.
According to our information, the reason this particular MEP chose to abstain is that the resolution contains references to abortion issues with which she disagrees.
