A fire that broke out on Wednesday afternoon in Aglantzia caused extensive damage to a motorcycle and also affected a nearby fruit orchard.

According to the Fire Department, at 7:00 p.m. yesterday, a call was received reporting a fire in a pile of paper inside a metal barrel, which spread to a nearby parked motorcycle in Aglantzia, in the Nicosia district.

The Kaimakli Fire Station responded, and the fire was brought under control at 7:18 p.m. Due to the fire and the heat, extensive damage was caused to the motorcycle in question, while a motor vehicle parked next to it also sustained minor damage.

Equipment and the wooden fence of an adjacent fruit stand were also damaged.

The fire appears to have been caused by burning paper in a barrel.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will follow, in cooperation with the relevant authorities.
